Elderly pedestrian hit in Richmond dies of injuries

An 80-year-old pedestrian struck near an intersection in Richmond on Saturday has died of his injuries.

The accident happened after 8 p.m. on Jan. 31. The driver of the vehicle initially left the scene of the collision but eventually returned and has cooperated with police.

The driver is a 31-year-old resident of Richmond.

Mounties said speed and alcohol were not factors in the collision.

The name of the victim, who was a resident of Delta, will not be released out of respect for the family.
