Man found without vital signs in downtown Toronto laneway

TORONTO – A man was taken to hospital without vital signs after he was found in a downtown Toronto lane way early Thursday morning.

Toronto EMS say the man in his 60s was discovered in the Bloor Street and Royal York area just before 7 a.m. suffering from possible hypothermia and cardiac arrest.

He was rushed to hospital and his current condition is unknown.

Police are investigating but they don’t yet know if this was a medical incident.

The city remains under an extreme cold weather alert as temperatures plunged below -15 degrees Celsius without the wind chill.

The advisory opens up additional shelter space and provides extra services for those most vulnerable and the homeless.
