Another winter wallop is expected in Saskatoon and across central Saskatchewan.

The snow will begin later in the day Thursday in the Bridge City.

Heavy snow will pick up through the evening hours with approximately five cm to shovel Friday morning.

After a brief break, a second wave of heavy snow will kick in Friday afternoon with strong winds of 30 km/h gusting to 50 km/h, making travel treacherous.

Finally another wave of moisture is expected Friday night into Saturday morning, making for another batch of between five and 10 cm of snow to hit the area.

The culprit of the blast of winter is a strong low-pressure system coming in from the Pacific and an intense moisture feed that will drive in warm, moist air over top of the cold, Arctic air mass in place over the Prairies, squeezing out waves of moisture over the area.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-minus teens through the event before warming slightly on Sunday as the snow potential begins to ease off.
