HALIFAX – Halifax should brace for another storm expected to hit on Thursday said Environment Canada.

In a special weather statement the national forecaster said Halifax and most of Nova Scotia will be hit with rain turning into snow on Thursday and going into Friday. It is still too early to tell how much rain and snow will fall in Halifax and Halifax County West. Freezing rain and ice pellets are also expected.

The storm comes on the heels of the snow-rain mix that led to traffic chaos on Monday. The snowfall total following Monday’s storm was 24 centimetres at Stanfield International Airport.  Peak winds in the area reached 82 kilometres an hour. The heaviest snowfall was recorded in Debert, Nova Scotia with 38 centimetres of snow.

Malay Falls, on the Eastern Shore, was hit with 19 centimetres of snow followed by 49 millimetres of rain.
