New recruits lead Rockets to double up ‘Canes

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes 6-3 on Friday night in Lethbridge improving to 2-0-0-1 on its four game road trip.

Leon Draisaitl had two goals and one assist in the win while Gage Quinney also scored twice for the Rockets, who improved to a WHL-best 38-8-3-1 on the season.

Rookie Michael Herringer earned the win in net and made some big saves early in the game, before the Rockets exploded for three quick goals to take a 4-0 lead in the first period.

Justin Kirkland had a goal and two assists for the Rockets while Madison Bowey also scored. Tyson Baillie and Rourke Chartier chipped in with two helpers apiece

The Rockets outshot the Hurricanes 51-25.

Kelowna will finish its four game road trip Saturday night in Cranbrook when they take on the Kootenay Ice.
