NAPANEE, Ont. – The eastbound Highway 401 in Belleville has reopened after a series of collisions but police say more delays are expected in the area.

One lane of the highway was shut down from Highway 37 to Shannonville Road after a tractor trailer jackknifed east of Highway 37 shortly before 8 a.m. Friday.

The other eastbound lane was then closed by police to allow for the removal of the rig and other vehicles that had crashed east of Belleville, and to clean up a fuel spill.

Both lanes reopened at about 1 p.m. and there were no immediate reports of injuries.

But police say there will be another eastbound lane closure due to an accident west of Belleville (near County Road 30 north of Brighton.)

A tow truck has been brought in to remove a tractor trailer that ended up in a ditch along the highway on Thursday.

The removal is expected to take about 1 1/2 hours and motorists are advised to expect delays and use caution when approaching the area.
