KELOWNA – A Kelowna man has been charged after police raided his Rutland neighbourhood home looking for evidence of child pornography crimes.
Kelowna RCMP were acting on information obtained from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children in the USA when the search warrant was executed on Saturday.
The man is charged with three offenses: possessing, making and importing or distributing child pornography.
Court documents allege: “On or about December 20th 2014 did have in his possession writings depicting an adult male and a 16 year old female involved in sexual acts.”
A neighbour says five young girls live in the raided residence. They are now apparently in the care of family members.
The suspect has been ordered to have no contact with the girls as part of his bail restrictions. He also can’t return to his residence, have any access to the internet and must stay away from anywhere children under 16 might be expected to be including schools, playgrounds and swimming pools.
He returns to court next week to apply for bail variance to allow him to return home to retrieve personal possessions.
Global News is withholding the man’s name to protect the identity of any possible victims.
