Police seek 2 suspects following serious assault on New Year’s Day in Halifax

HALIFAX – Halifax police are looking for two suspects they say were involved in a serious assault that took place on Gottingen Street early New Year’s Day.

Police found a man lying on Cunard Street after responding to a call at 1 a.m. at Alteregos cafe, where man had reportedly thrown a table through the front window.

The man had serious head injuries that police believe were the result of a fall.

He was taken to hospital and has not yet been released. Police say he has been unable to speak to them due to his injuries.

Police confirmed on Wednesday via video surveillance that the man had been assaulted by two suspects on Jan. 1.

Photos of the suspects taken from the surveillance footage have been released by police, who are looking for help identifying them.

The first suspect is described as a white man in his 20s who is 5-10 with a small build. He was wearing grey skinny jeans, a white shirt, a black jacket and a long blue scarf at the time of the incident.

The second suspect is described as a black woman in her 20s who has long black hair. She was wearing a long blue shirt and bluejeans at the time of the incident.

Police are asking anybody with information about the suspects or the incident to call Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
