The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The RCMP says many of the cows either died in the crash or had to be euthanized. The exact number of animals that died has not been released.

Road conditions at the time were icy and visibility was poor because of fog. Officials believe those conditions contributed to the crash.
