Winnipeg’s MTS Centre to add premium seats, high definition scoreboard

WINNIPEG – More premium seats and crowd-pleasing features are being added to the MTS Centre.

True North Sports and Entertainment, the owners of the Winnipeg Jets, announced Monday that the $12 million in additions will made this summer, in time for the 2015-16 NHL season.

There will be 278 new loge seats in the first row of the 300 level, featuring “cushioned 24-inch swivel chairs and a counter style ledge” behind new seamless glass which will replace the existing mesh screen to improve sight lines in the 300 level.

True North says its arena improvements will also include:

  • Installation of a new high definition centre hung scoreboard that will feature four primary screens 2.5 times the physical size and three times the resolution of the screens on the existing scoreboard’s primary screens.
  • Installation of a new 360 degree power ring presenting two times the resolution of the existing power ring (16MM HD LED ribbon board display).
  • Installation of a new state-of-the-art control room that will allow the production of high definition images throughout the MTS Centre and improve audio in the existing sound system, and allow for additional cameras, which will bring an enhanced scoreboard experience.

The new loge seats will be made available first to the existing holders of tickets in the first row of the 300 level, for a price of $134.40 per seat per game plus a $500 “premium seat licence fee” added to the season ticket package price.
