SASKATOON – The boys in blue have won five games in a row after a 3-0 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders Sunday. This was the goal for the Saskatoon Blades when they took to the ice at the SaskTel Centre in front of 4,136 fans.

The last time the Blades posted a five-game winning streak was on Feb. 5, 2013. It was also part of a miraculous 18-game hot streak which propelled Saskatoon into first place in the Western Hockey League (WHL) East Division.

Josh Uhrich, Garrett Armour and Brett Stovin all scored for Saskatoon.

Goalie Nick McBride made 35 saves for Prince Albert, while Nik Amundrud posted his second career WHL shutout.

“Any time you can put a streak of five, it’s pretty special and we’d like to keep it going but that was a tough battle, that was a war,” said Bob Woods, Blades head coach and GM.

“It’s been great after Christmas break, we seem to pull together a little more, listen to our coaches, just follow their systems,” said Blades goalie Nik Amundrud.

The teams meet on Wednesday for a rematch at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert, Sask.
