Toronto Paramedic Services says a woman and a man in their 20’s were stabbed in the torso, and a man in his 40’s was stabbed in the back.

Police say the victims, who did not know one another, were stabbed at three separate locations close to the Mattamy Athletic Centre (Maple Leaf Gardens).

All three were taken to a trauma centre for treatment.

Police say the suspect tried unsuccessfully to stab a fourth person.

Hibbeln said investigators have spoken to witnesses, but police are still asking anyone who may have witnessed the stabbings to contact them

On Sunday evening, police issued a statement identifying the suspect as 62-year-old Shawn O’Neill.

O’Neill faces 20 charges, including four counts of attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault and six counts of assault with a weapon.
