WINNIPEG – Visitors to Assiniboine Park Zoo were able to get a glimpse of a four-month-old cougar cub for the first time Friday. Now they need help finding a name for her.

The baby cougar was rescued from Alberta where she was found struggling to survive on her own in the wild.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The cub was transferred from Calgary to Winnipeg in early December and so far, she’s thriving here.

Her Winnipeg home will be temporary. The goal is to move her to another zoo so she can take part in a Species Survival Program.

A poll to find a new name for the cougar can be found here.

Voting will begin on a shortlist January 26th.
