SASKATOON – The National Hockey League is coming back to Saskatoon for preseason action. The Edmonton Oilers will take on the Minnesota Wild Sept. 26 at SaskTel Centre.

This will be Minnesota’s first visit to the Bridge City.

“We are excited about the opportunity of visiting Saskatoon, one of Canada’s true hockey communities” said Chuck Fletcher, executive vice-president and general manager of the Wild.

Some local Oiler fans were disappointed after last September’s 5-0 loss in Saskatoon to the Chicago Blackhawks, a game which featured neither Taylor Hall or Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

John Graham of the On Ice Management Group is hopeful that the Edmonton roster will be deeper this time around.

“I’m pretty confident the roster that they had last year, which I thought was a great roster minus those two players, I think it will be a better roster so that means at least one of those two, I think, will be in but I’m not the GM,” said Graham.

There will be an advanced sale for Saskatoon Blades season ticket holders. Tickets for the general public got on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
