PEACHLAND, B.C. — It was a shocking attack that left a Peachland couple without their pet dog. Now the courts will have to decide the fate of the dogs who did the attack.

“The big guy bit Charlie on the side, I just hauled off and booted him in the head, it was like booting a medicine ball, big head on him,” says victim dog owner Jeff Clarke.
He was walking his dog on the road outside his home on New Year’s Day when it was attacked by two much larger dogs that were running loose. Clarke’s dog suffered serious injuries and was put down by a veterinarian.
Dog control officers later seized the two attack dogs and asked their owner for permission to have them euthanized. He is refusing to have that done voluntarily, so the regional district will seek a court order.
“Unfortunately sometime dog owners don’t do the responsible thing in the interest of public safety so we have to make the decision to ask the court for an order to humanely euthanize these dogs.”
A trial date is expected to be set next month. In the meantime, the two dogs are being held at the pound.
