A western Manitoba town that’s been hit by floodwater over the past two years is getting some protection from high water.
Reston was hit twice by flooding in less than a week in June 2013.
About a year later, metre-deep water struck parts of the community, washing out roads and crops and causing sewage backups.

To prevent further flooding, the federal, provincial and local municipal governments are spending more than a million dollars to build a dike system on the west side of Reston to protect 30 homes.
The money from the senior governments is coming from the Community Dikes Initiative.
