SASKATOON – Have an obscured licence plate? It could set you back $150.

Saskatoon police will be looking for drivers whose licence plates are hard to read. Police officials say plates need to be legible and clear of mud and snow.

In addition to legible plates, officers in the Bridge City are also taking part in a province-wide initiative. For the month of January, Saskatchewan law enforcement are involved in a traffic spotlight which focuses on intersection infractions.

Based on SGI’s three-year average between 2011-13, almost 40 per cent of crashes in the province happen at intersections. In 2013 alone, 47 people died in these collisions.
