KELOWNA – Construction seems to be a never ending process at UBC Okanagan. In the last 10 years, a $400 million construction program added new housing, academic buildings and recreational facilities as enrollment doubled. Now, home to just over 8,000 students, the 500-acre campus is looking to develop some more and it’s all being laid out in a master plan.
“The master plan is a 20 year vision, looking at accommodating opportunities and identifying areas for growth over a 20 year period,” says Anthony Haddad with Okanagan Campus Planning and Development.
He says academic space and student housing are the key components of the draft plan. He says public input will be collected over the next few weeks with the intention of presenting it to the board of governors this summer.
There will be an open house at UBC Okanagan on January 28 in the Fipke Building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to learn more about the master plan and provide feedback.
