When RCMP arrived the two men took off at high speed in a pickup truck.

It was found abandoned a short time later. That’s when the dog was brought in and it was able to pick up a scent trail leading to one of the suspects.

The 29 year-old-man, from Red Deer Alberta where he has outstanding arrest warrants, was injured by the dog during the arrest and was taken to hospital for treatment. He is expected to appear in court Friday.

The other suspect was not found.
