MONTREAL — According to reports, the Quebec mother accused of killing her three children has died in a Montreal hospital.
Sonia Blanchette faced three counts of first-degree murder after her three children – Lorelie, 5, Loic, 4, and Anaïs, 2 – were found dead in their mother’s apartment in Drummondville on Dec. 2, 2012.

Radio-Canada is reporting that Blanchette died early Friday morning at 1:35 a.m. at the Sacré Coeur Hospital as a result of a hunger strike. She had been hospitalized since Dec. 19, and her weight had dropped to 80 pounds.
Blanchette was expected to appear in court in Sherbrooke on Friday to have the date for her murder trial set.
