Goldeyes infielder gets another chance to live out his big league dream

WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announcing the contract of infielder Casey Haerther has been purchased by the Baltimore Orioles.  The 27-year-old Haerther played two seasons with the Goldeyes and hit .360 last season which tied him for second best in the American Association.  He also had a career best 13 home runs with 72 RBI in 98 games in 2014.

“We are thrilled for Casey and the opportunity afforded to him by the Orioles organization,” said Goldeyes manager Rick Forney in a media release.  “He’s worked extremely hard for this opportunity when he came to us two years ago and wish him the best with the Orioles.”

Prior to arriving in Winnipeg, Haerther played four seasons in the Los Angeles Angels farm system reaching class “AA”.

Haerther is the 64th member of the Goldeyes to have his contract purchased by a major league organization and the first to go to the Orioles since Shawn Sedlacek in 2005.
