Calgary police charge woman with credit card fraud

Calgary police have charged a 30-year-old woman with credit card fraud in connection with several incidents at three gas stations.

Police say they happened between July and November of last year.

They allege after gaining the trust of employees, the woman bought pre-paid credit and gift cards by convincing employees to put through manual transactions using credit card numbers fraudulently obtained.

Police say the woman would then sell the pre-paid cards at a discount.

Losses are estimated at more than $44,000.

Lyn De Lapaz has been charged with one count of fraud over $5,000, and two counts of possession of credit card data.

She’s also charged with three breaches of a recognizance order.
