Mount Baldy Ski Area has announced it will reopen on Friday. Baldy Capital Corporation recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to purchase the ski hill according to Fred Johnston, President of the Calgary-based company.

He says major maintenance has been underway over the last several weeks with the goal of opening the ski hill – which is located about a 40 minute drive east of Osoyoos – on a limited basis this season.

“Mount Baldy is a community ski area and we want to work with the local community to develop a plan for long term success,” says Johnston. “We have a long term vision for Mount Baldy Ski Area and in partnership with the local community we hope to re-invent the ski area into one of British Columbia’s must attend resorts.”

A ceremony with local dignitaries will be held Friday morning at 9:15 to officially open the hill for the 2015 season.

The ski hill was shut down last season and was put up for sale last summer by order of the BC Supreme Court.
