EDMONTON — Three people are facing charges after a man was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds Saturday afternoon.
Staff Sgt. Keith Johnson with the EPS says a 36-year-old man was stabbed upwards of 14 times outside the Beverly Motel in north Edmonton around 1:30 p.m. Johnson says it appears the victim was swarmed by several people.
The man was taken to the nearby Beverly Medical Clinic, then immediately transported to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in critical condition. The 36-year-old’s condition has since been upgraded to stable.
Police located three suspects in the Beverly Motel. Johnson says the rooms were cleared and the trio was arrested.
A 28-year-old man is facing charges of aggravated assault, robbery and possession of a weapon. A 21-year-old man is facing charged of aggravated assault. Police say the men are brothers.
A third person, a 22-year-old woman, is facing charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.
Johnson says police are still looking for more suspects. Officers have identified the other suspects, but need to track them down, according to Johnson. Police say they’re all known to each other and this was not a random attack.
