LETHBRIDGE – By now the tinsel has come down and the city is ready to collect your Christmas tree.
For the past twenty-one years the city of Lethbridge has partnered with a local youth group to ensure Christmas trees continue to give even after the holidays are over.
On Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, residents can support the 13th Lethbridge Guides by putting their tree near their regular garbage collection location.
Trees should be free of any ornaments, placed away from the household waste cart and put out before 7 a.m.
What’s collected will then be chipped and turned into environmentally-friendly mulch.
Since the program began, almost 80,000 Christmas trees have been diverted from the landfill.
After Saturday, trees can be taken to the Waste & Recycling Centre for composting.
