TORONTO – Environment Canada has cancelled a snow squall warning for the city of Toronto.

The weather agency had said lake effect flurries could result in low visibility and blowing snow in Toronto. The warning was called shortly before 2 p.m.

But a snow squall warning remains in effect for Halton Hills, Peel, and Kingston, where up to five centimetres of snow could fall through the afternoon.

The weather agency also issued a special weather statement for Toronto due to an Arctic cold front that is expected to bring strong winds.

Friday is the third day this week that Toronto has been under an extreme cold weather alert as temperatures could reach an overnight low of -15 degrees Celsius.
