Toronto’s Extreme Cold Weather Alert ends at noon

TORONTO – Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health says the city’s Extreme Cold Weather Alert will end at noon today.

The advisory opens up additional warming centres and services for those who are most vulnerable and the homeless.

Environment Canada called off its Extreme Cold Warning for much of Southern Ontario on Wednesday.

The city’s Medical Officer of Health issues the alerts when Environment Canada forecasts that overnight temperatures will reach -15 degrees Celsius or colder.

The weather forecast is expected to warm up for the duration of the week with temperatures returning to seasonal averages.
