REGINA – Regina police have asked the provincial Public Complaints Commission (PCC) to investigate allegations of mistreatment against officers that was posted on Facebook.
The post, which has amassed over 4,200 shares at the time of publication, accuses two male officers of driving a 25-year-old woman (the poster’s daughter) away from the city Sunday morning, taking her coat and shoes, and threatening to leave her outside “to die.”
Deputy Chief Dean Rae told reporters Monday afternoon that officers were called to the 3500 block of Avonhurst Drive at 4:54 a.m. on Sunday for a report of two intoxicated females, one of whom was banging on a door while the other was semi-conscious.
A 16-year-old was sent to hospital by Regina EMS.
At 5:32 a.m., a 25-year-old woman was arrested for being intoxicated in public and then taken to get sober in cell by around 6:15 a.m. She was released at 7:15 p.m. that day.
Rae said the officers “never saw” either shoes or a jacket on the woman when they arrived.
Video taken from cameras inside the detention area shows the woman entered the building without both, he added.
“These allegations, quite frankly, with the advent of social media take on a whole life of their own, and it’s important for us to get out and try to provide the facts as we know them from the Regina Police Service’s point of view, and support our members as best as we can in these things,” said Rae.
Rae said he doesn’t believe officers drove the woman past the refinery and city limits.

GPS data from the car was not looked at.
“Our I.T. person that’s responsible for that isn’t here today so hopefully we can get a look at that tomorrow,” he added.
All of the information on the incident is based on the report from the officers in question. The officers were not spoken to on Monday; that’s for PCC to conduct, he said.
The woman’s blood alcohol level was not tested.
Police said GPS equipment in police cars cannot be turned off when running.
The woman who posted the online accusation told Global News she submitted her daughter’s allegations to the PCC on Monday.
