WINNIPEG – Access Winnipeg West, an out-patient health and social services facility at the Grace Hospital, is closed Monday after a pipe burst and flooded the building.

The third-floor water pipe froze and burst, damaging all floors, including a daycare located in the building, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority officials said in a news release. The burst pipe and damage were discovered on Sunday morning; the centre isn’t open on weekends.

“The extent of the damage is still being assessed, but it does appear significant, and the building will not be operational in the short term,” the release said.

The out-patient facility sees 100 to 125 clients a day and has 170 staff members. Services include the daycare, a primary care clinic, speech language pathology, audiology, community mental health, home care and family services.
