A trail near Lions Bay is being renamed in honour of a seven-year-old girl killed in a tragic hiking accident last month.

Family and friends remembered Erin Moore at a celebration of life in West Vancouver yesterday. Those in attendance were asked to wear colourful clothes in honour of Erin’s love of bright colours.

Moore died on Dec. 22 while hiking with her mother on Unnecessary Mountain. A creek bed started to crumble and debris tumbled on top of her. Heavy rain left the ground in the area saturated and may have made it unstable.

The trail where she died has been renamed “Erin Moore Trail.”
