TORONTO – The funeral service for a 14-year-old girl struck and killed by a TTC bus earlier this month will be held this Saturday in Scarborough.

Amaria Diljohn was crossing Finch Avenue East near Neilson Road when she was fatally hit on Dec. 19.

The TTC bus, driven by a 27-year-old man, did not remain at the scene.

Police are investigating and the driver is not currently facing any charges.

A statement posted on Diljohn’s memorial Facebook page says $14,600 have been raised for her funeral as of this Monday.

“So many people have been touched by this little girl and have reached out and helped make this happen,” the post read. “I’m so proud of all of our hard work. Amaria deserves the very best and nothing less.”

Donations are still being accepted at Scotiabanks across Scarborough with the account #26492-06748-26.

TTC CEO Andy Byford said last week the transit commission is offering up to $20,000 for the funeral but the family reportedly will not accept the money as long as the police investigation is still underway.

Vistations are scheduled for this Friday between 5 to 9 p.m. at the Highland Funeral Home.

The funeral service will take place Saturday at the Malvern Christian Assembly at 1 p.m.
