TTC driver charged after weekend collision with streetcar

WATCH ABOVE: The TTC’s safety record has been thrust back into the spotlight. A bus driver has been charged with careless driving after a weekend crash between a bus and a streetcar.

TORONTO – The driver of a TTC bus which collided head-on with a streetcar on Saturday morning has been charged with careless driving.

The collision happened at Danforth Avenue and Main Street, and sent five people, including the bus driver, to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the bus has not been identified.

The bus collided with the streetcar at approximately 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the city’s east-end. The streetcar was knocked off the rails by the impact of the collision.

Saturday’s crash came just days after the public transit agency announced it was accelerating a review of its training program after a 14-year-old girl was struck and killed by a TTC bus in Scarborough.
