REGINA – A boy is back home, unharmed after a man stole an unattended running car in the south end of Regina on Boxing Day as the 7-year-old slept in the front passenger seat. Police were called to the 4600 block of Albert Street at about 7:15 p.m. for a report of an auto theft.
The mother told police she was away for four minutes, visiting a nearby business and had left her car on with the doors unlocked.
According to police, as they searched for the car, the women called them to let them know her son was found; he then told police the suspect let him out a block away.
The mother and child were driven back home by police.
Police are now looking for the suspect, described as an Aboriginal man wearing a black jacket.
The investigation is continuing.
