TORONTO – The Ontario government says there have been no “significant issues” with disability payments in the province less than a day after OPSEU claimed problems “plagued” the payment management system.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Community and Social Services, which oversees social assistance payments, said in a written statement that there have been a “small number of cases where errors are made” but the government is working to address them.

“We have enhanced the oversight and validation of the payment process and are ready to respond to issues as soon as they are reported,” the statement read.

“We have been in communication with all our offices across the Province this week and can confirm that there have been no significant issues with ODSP monthly payments.”

The Ontario Public Services Employees Union said in a statement Tuesday that problems still “plague” the system after SAMS dispensed $20 million in overpayments in November.
