TORONTO – The City of Toronto is under a wind warning with a strong southwest system developing tonight and into Christmas Day.

Environment Canada says gusting winds of 60 to 90 kilometres per hour are expected in many open areas.

A few gusts near 100 km/h are also possible for regions bordering the northeastern shore of Lake Erie.

The wind warning is also in effect for much of southern Ontario, including the Greater Toronto Area.

The weather office says damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur.

Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury as well.

Motorists are being warned to adjust your driving with the changing road conditions due to high winds.
