WATCH: Okanagan couple spread holiday cheer to low income seniors

LAKE COUNTRY, B.C. – It’s the season of giving. While that message is sometimes lost within the busy holidays, one Okanagan couple has dedicated their Christmas season to giving to a demographic that they say is sometimes forgotten about. Okanagan chef Jeremy Luypen and his fiancée and Kelowna lawyer Jessica Spelliscy delivered some holiday cheer to about 40 seniors living in low income housing in Lake Country.

It’s an initiative they call The “J” Project and this is the second year they’ve done it.

“We started The “J” Project to give back to the community just because we wanted that sense of what the holiday season is all about. It’s about giving, about doing things for people they may not otherwise have the means to do for themselves,” says Luypen.

The couple partners with Society of Hope – the largest nonprofit provider of social housing in the Interior – for The “J” Project.
