Police search for Calgary carjacking suspect

CALGARY – Police are searching for the man responsible for a violent carjacking on Tuesday night.

The victim, who was working as a shuttle driver for a hotel, was flagged down by a man the 2500 block of 32nd Avenue N.E. around 11 p.m.

Thinking the man needed directions, she pulled over and rolled down her passenger-side window.

At that point, the man entered the vehicle and held a sharp object to the driver’s side.

He then forced the woman to drive to a convenience store in the 2900 block of Radcliffe Drive S.E.

When they arrived, the carjacker told the victim to enter the store and purchase some items for him.

After she exited the vehicle, the man drove off, nearly striking a pedestrian in the parking lot.

Police haven’t yet been able to locate the suspect or the vehicle.

The carjacker is described as between 45 and 50-years-old, 6’ tall and approximately 200 lbs with a medium build and a well-kept appearance.

He had blonde hair on the sides of his head but was balding on top. He had some facial hair, and was wearing a light blue jacket with white stripes.

The vehicle is a white 2013 Honda Odyssey with logos on the sides and back saying “Comfort Inn,” “Staybridge Suites” and “Super 8.” It has Alberta license plate number 36M942.
