SIU investigating after man shot near Agincourt Mall

TORONTO – A man was seriously injured during a shooting in Scarborough Thursday afternoon.

Police were called to a loading dock at the Agincourt Mall shortly after 4:30 p.m. for reports of a man with a large butcher knife who was trying to cut his wrists.

The man, believed to be around 40 years old,  was shot in the abdomen and has been taken to Sunnybrook Hospital in life-threatening condition.

It’s not yet clear who shot the man but the SIU has invoked its mandate, taking over the investigation. The SIU investigates police-related incidents involving death, serious injury and allegations of sexual assault.
