TORONTO – Rob Ford’s family gave a $40,000 cheque to Toronto’s Humber River Hospital from proceeds collected during the last sale of the former mayor’s bobbleheads.
His mother, Diane Ford, and his brother, former city councillor Doug Ford, delivered the cheque Wednesday morning with an additional personal donation of $50,000.
“After 42 years of having my children here and using emergency services … doctors have been wonderful, and it’s our hospital,” Diane Ford said.
Doug Ford confirmed Tuesday that his brother’s tumour has shrunk by half.
Rob Ford was diagnosed with a rare form of abdominal cancer in September and dropped his bid for mayoral re-election shortly afterwards.
However, he ran for a seat on city council in his Etobicoke riding and won.
