TORONTO – Police say they have found a body they believe to be an 80-year-old man who was last seen on Thursday afternoon.

Phillip Phen was last seen on Dec. 11 at approximately 12 p.m., in the McCowan Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East area.

Police say they have not positively identified him, but said during a news conference Friday they are working under the assumption it is Phen.

“It’s a tragic incident where we were hoping for a much better outcome,” Toronto Police Det. Philip Lee.

Police found Phen in a stairwell close to his apartment building that was partially covered with snow.  Police had set up a command post nearby and Lee said they had searched the building and the surrounding area “quite thoroughly” multiple times.
