Blades winless streak hits 8 in 4-3 loss to Cougars

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Zach Pochiro struck twice and added an assist to lead the Prince George Cougars past the Saskatoon Blades 4-3. Chase Witala and Brad Morrison rounded out the Prince George (16-15-0) attack for its third-straight victory.

Landon Welykholowa, Sam McKechnie and Brett Stovin scored for the Blades (7-22-3). Saskatoon hasn’t won in its last eight games.

The Blades return home to take on the Moose Jaw Warriors Friday at SaskTel Place.

In other WHL action Tuesday, Coleman Vollrath kicked out 34 shots as the Victoria Royals blanked the Prince Albert Raiders 1-0. Tyler Soy scored the only goal of the game 3:19 into the third period for Victoria (17-14-2), which won its third straight.

Rylan Parenteau made 24 saves for the Raiders (15-16-0).

Carson Stadnyk scored the only goal in the shootout as the Everett Silvertips beat the Tri-City Americans 4-3. Matt Fonteyne led the offence for the Silvertips (18-7-4) with two goals in regulation while Kohl Bauml added another as Everett snapped a two-game losing streak.

Brian Williams struck twice for Tri-City (16-13-1), with Richard Nejezchleb rounding out the attack.

Austin Lotz made 30 saves for the win. Evan Sarthou turned away 22 shots for the Americans.

The Silvertips were scoreless on two power-play chances while Tri-City went 1 for 5.

In Cranbrook, Chad Labelle had the game-winning goal as the Medicine Hat Tigers downed the Kootenay Ice 4-1. Tyler Lewington, Cole Sanford and Trevor Cox also scored for the Tigers (22-7-2).

Levi Cable replied late in the second period with his 11th of the season for the Ice (15-17-0).
