He said he’d be back.

Thirty years after establishing his Hollywood career with The Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to reprise his role as the iconic man/machine hybrid in the upcoming film Terminator: Genisys.

He’ll star alongside Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons and former Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

Stepping into the director’s chair is Thor: The Dark World helmer Alan Taylor.

The film will serve as a reboot to the Terminator franchise in the same way director J.J. Abrams’ 2009 film Star Trek reset that popular science-fiction franchise.

The time-travel story will see an aged version of Schwarzenegger’s T-800 fight to protect Clarke’s Sarah Connor, a role famously played by Linda Hamilton in the first two Terminator films, and by Lena Heady (also of Game of Thrones) in the television series The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

The first two Terminator films were massive box office successes, which helped to establish the careers of both Schwarzenegger and director James Cameron.

This will be the fifth film in the Terminator series, following 2009’s Terminator: Salvation starring Christian Bale.

Terminator: Genisys hits theatres July 1, 2015.
