LLOYDMINSTER, Sask. – One person is dead and another was injured after a head-on crash in Saskatchewan Tuesday morning. The crash happened around 7:50 a.m. on Highway 17 north of Lloydminster.
Mounties say a northbound Volkswagen Beetle was hit by a southbound BMW 3.0 attempting to pass vehicles.

The female driver of the Beetle was declared dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.
The male driver of the BMW was being treated at the scene by paramedics. There is no word at this time on his condition.
Maidstone RCMP say Highway 17 will remain closed while they carry out their investigation with the help of a traffic collision analyst.
