HALIFAX – Police say a man involved in an industrial accident in Dartmouth on Tuesday morning managed to escape serious injury.

Around 8:30 a.m., an employee at Atlantic Cat, a heavy equipment dealer on Akerley Boulevard, who was working inside a rock crusher became pinned by a metal plate.

He was taken to hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening leg injuries according to Chrissy Matheson, spokesperson for the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education.

A stop-work order was issued on the crusher and a nearby crane, but work will be permitted to continue on other areas of the property.

Provincial Occupational Health and Safety officers are still investigating.
