Two Manitobans, three Jets to fight for spot on Canada’s world junior team

WINNIPEG – Two Manitobans and three Winnipeg Jets prospects are among the 29 players who have been invited to Canada’s world junior team selection camp.

Winnipegger Madison Bowey and Elkhorn’s forward Travis Samheim will fight for the right to wear the maple leaf during the annual IIHF U20 tournament. Both defenceman will be trying to crack Canada’s world junior roster for the first time.

Joining them at selection camp are Jets goalie Eric Comrie, defenceman Josh Morrissey and forward Nic Petan. Morrissey and Petan were part of last year’s team which finished fourth. Winnipeg is the only NHL club that had three players invited to this year’s camp.

The national team selection camp runs December 11 to 15. Canada plays it’s first game of the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship December 26 against Slovakia.
