Kelowna house fire in North Glenmore

KELOWNA–Fire crews were called to a home on Monford Road just before 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

Platoon Captain Kelly Stephens says the back of the house was fully involved when they arrived.

Six people live in the house, but only two men were home when the fire broke out.  They escaped and were taken to hospital to be checked over, but their injuries seem to be minor.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Firefighters were able to save a couple of collector cars in the garage, but the rest of the house is beyond repair.

A cause has not been determined.  Investigators will be on scene tomorrow.

Cold temperatures made fighting the fire more difficult, with the area around the fire icing up quickly. Water lines were also freezing up.
