WINNIPEG – A stabbing early Saturday morning turned into the city’s latest homicide.
Just after 2:00 a.m. Saturday, police were sent to the 100 block of La Verendrye Street after reports of a stabbing.
They found a 31-year-old man suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds to his upper body. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition and later died from the injuries.
Police say the victim was Victor Cory Hardisty of Winnipeg.
The homicide unit and forensic identification section found that the victim arrived at a residence, where a drinking party started. An argument a few hours later between the victim and the suspect escalated and the suspect pulled out a weapon and stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the residence shortly after and police were called to the scene.
Elvis Marcel McKay, 38, was arrested at a residence on Manitoba Avenue for his alleged involvement and charged with second degree murder. He was taken into custody.
