TORONTO – A water main break is being blamed for causing a mudslide that forced the closure of eastbound Highway 403 in Hamilton Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. between Main Street and York Boulevard.
Mud and trees are currently blocking the roadway with water still seeping through the soil. No injuries were reported.
The OPP says the eastbound lanes of Highway 403 between York Boulevard and Main Street in Hamilton will likely be closed until 9 p.m. Friday.
The debris will need to be cleared before the lanes can reopen. The water to the broken water main has been shut off and police said the nearby botanical gardens was the only customer affected by the shut off.
