WINNIPEG –Developers, designers, and those with bright ideas joined together for the sixth Ramp Up Weekend.

The weekend is a 55 hour marathon to develop innovative products.

“It’s intense and there’s a lot of stress and pressure,” said Patty Romeo, a participant.

“In our group for example we have architects, engineers, they all have different backgrounds so we all come together and use our skill sets and then create what we’re trying to do,” said Stephen Lozano Rivacoba, participating for the fourth time.

Ideas were pitched and groups were formed Friday night and by Saturday about 12 products were already well underway.

“As a kid I always dreamed of getting a scholarship but its very difficult being from Manitoba because there’s not a lot of opportunities so I would have loved to have had a platform like this where I could promote myself,” said Romeo.

Throughout the weekend mentors will be giving advice on how to take the ideas to the next level.

“There’s some really great ideas this weekend, really creative ideas, and some really I can imagine it’s going to get to market and they’re going to be going for investor rounds really shortly,” said Jerin Valel, Ramp Up Weekend mentor.

Ramp Up Weekend  ends Sunday night when judges hand out cash prizes to those behind the top three ideas.
