FREDERICTON, N.B. – No one was hurt after a fire struck a home on Kings College Road in Fredericton.
Four people live in the home, but just three of them were there at the time of the fire. They all safely escaped.
Officials were called to 457 Kings College Rd around 1:30 p.m. and say the fire broke out towards the back of the home. About a dozen firefighters responded and had to swap oxygen tanks as they fought the blaze.
Officials were worried about the house located behind the structure. Police entered that home to help a visually and hearing impaired elderly woman evacuate. Her cat was also rescued.
It took crews about an hour to get the fire out, and they continued to look for hot spots most of the afternoon. There was extensive damage to the building.
The cause is still under investigation.
